   Customer Questionnaire

 

Design of the Questionnaire

 

 

Date: January 22, 2016
Time: 12: 30 P.M. (lunch time)
Shops: Damiaokou Soup Noodle Shop and Tienting Soup Noodle Shop
Motivation:
1. Customers in the shops were asked randomly to fill in the questionnaire.
2. A total of 65 copies of questionnaire had been sent out. And 40 valid ones were collected as our analysis subject.
3. For the sake of understandability, the results were presented by percentage.


Purpose:
After investigating the business situation of local Soup Noodle shops on site, the questionnaire was designed by the students and teachers of Lu Jiang Elementary School Cyberfair Team, which was adopted to explore the dietary habits, preferences, and intention of choice so as to probe into the possibility of sustainable development of traditional Soup Noodle shops from the perspective of customers.

Results of the Questionnaire

 

 
(1) Observation on "gender", "age", and "residence"

Gender

Based on the data, most customers to the Soup Noodle shops were male. Actually, mostly whole families came to have noodles. There were few women who came to have noodles alone. They often came with their family or friends.

 

Age

The customers we surveyed today showed the phenomenon of polarization. Customers "under 20 years old" were mostly friends.

Those "between 41 to 50 years old" were mostly workers nearby or residents who went shopping for the reason of convenience. And they were already used to have noodles during this time. Customers at "51 years old and above" accounted for 18% which was not low. They were patrons, who had been very accustomed to have noodles in the shops and would chat with the owners. They stayed in the shops longer than other customers. The flavor of noodles and the types of appetizers they ordered were constant.

   

Residence

We could see from the percentage of age that, the biggest percentage in terms of age went to the customers "under 20 years old". They mostly came from other regions in New Taipei outside Luzhou. One special reason was that January 22 was the start of winter holiday. Many young people had more time to hang around, so they came to Luzhou to enjoy local delicacies.

 
(2) Observation on "reason of first visit to the shops" & "frequency of visits"

Reason of first visit to the shops

The first choice often decided the consequent habits. If a shop leaves a good impression to a customer, he tends to go there regularly later, and vice versa. Based on the survey, most customers selected the option "being recommended by someone else". Thus, public praise was influential in people's choice. Good reputation will attract more customers who have great possibility to become patrons.
The option of "passing by and having a try" was up to 28%, which was not surprising in Luzhou. Luzhou has the highest density of Soup Noodle shops in the whole province. You will find one by walking a few steps. It is a correct idea to try each of the Soup Noodle shops in Luzhou.

   
Frequency of visits  

As of the question of "frequency of visits", most customers selected "within a month" followed by "within a week" which were high frequencies. As time goes on, the choices of breakfast have become diversified. Luzhou has dense population and developed commerce, so it also has many delicacies for your choice. The sum of the percentage of "within a month" and "within a week" accounted for over 60%. It could be concluded that the status of Soup Noodle in the heart of Luzhou residents and visitors had never lowered.

 
(3) Observation on "reason to come to the shops"

The option selected by the majority in this question matched with the most important and demanded features of Luzhou Soup Noodle--"delicious soup" which was followed by "cheap price", "tasty noodles", and "delicious appetizers". The results showed the original positioning of Soup Noodle. Luzhou Soup Noodle is made with the most authentic and delicious ingredients at an affordable price for the majority, coupled with various appetizers. Thus, one can enjoy a diversified and full meal, which plays an irreplaceable role in modern time filled with diversified choices.

 
(4) Observation on "differences with the other shops"

On the streets of Luzhou, one can find Soup Noodle shops with different flavors everywhere. But, which shop is the favorite of customers? What are the differences among the shops? The option "delicious soup" turned out to be the most important for customers, which was followed by "delicious appetizers". It can be seen that the side dishes attract more attention of customers than price. Along with their improvement of economic capability, customers hope to eat better and more exquisite ingredients. For those who come to Soup Noodle shops, besides having a full meal, they also seek for a surprise.

 
(5) Observation on "overall satisfaction"

Customers who came all the way to Luzhou to have a bowl of Soup Noodle were confident about their choices. Their overall satisfaction was over 76%. Thus, tradition is by no means out of fashion or less exquisite. A shop owner shall devote to the business whole-heartedly, enhance their skills of the ancient flavor, stick to the best taste and quality, respect the needs of customers, and make changes along with the development of times. We believe that the satisfaction will be even higher in the future!
