Prepare the Achievement Presentation

After the end of final exam, we still could not have a rest because the important event -- “community achievement presentation” would be held soon at the end of the term.
The community achievement presentation is the activity held in the activity center after the end of final exam. In the static communities such as board game, DIY handicrafts etc., the achievements throughout the semester will be made into activities where students can go through a pass. In the dynamic communities such as taekwondo, diabolo, etc., the activities will be presented to teachers and students in a form of performance on the stage. We belong to the static community, so we adopt the former presentation method.

However, this community achievement presentation is completely different from the previous ones because we are the challengers in the past but now we are the game level designers. Thus, the students going through a pass can get to know Cleaning Squad while playing. Therefore, it is very important to design the contents of level-based game. Our teacher directly allocates the 7 large classes of Cleaning Squad to us and requires us to think about what the students can understand and learn while going through a pass. According to teacher’s explanation, we should firstly conceive the purpose of the activity and then design the level-based game. In the beginning, we think about how to combine the hidebound knowledge and the interesting game and it is also the biggest problem faced by us to design the level-based activity. It is very difficult for some class types to think out the suitable activity. For instance, in the inspection class, we originally intended to present the activity in a manner of acting, but in that case, the students going through a pass would consume too much time. So we gave it up. Later, we continuously discussed whether the activity is suitable or not and how to revise the activity. After multiple times of discussion and voting, the 4 level-based activities were determined in the end, respectively including Shura hands without shadows, three-eye wisdom, descendant of giants and I am Hercules.

Next, we needed to make the activity rules, speak out the inner voice of cleaning crew and make the posters for the different contents of the activity process of Luzhou Cup; most people made posters by using the computer, but a small number of people made them by drawing. The making process was a little difficult because we didn’t know what patterns should be put and what words should be written on the posters. Besides, we also needed to prepare the objects required by each level. First of all, we found the different types of recyclables and then we borrowed 2 spoons and buckets from the office of academic affairs and additionally prepared a mop, 2 buckets, mud and water on our own. Our teacher especially advised us to add some dead leaves. Thus, it looks like a ditch. Besides, we also made many picture cards and the patterns on the cards include paper separation type, plastics type, steel and aluminum can type, glass type, used battery and disc type, electric appliance type and food waste type. Its purpose is to require students to say what kind of type it belongs to while going through a pass.

After all the objects are well prepared, we should practice how to explain the activity rules to the children and there will be no problems as long as we practice them adequately. During the preparation process, we are busy and laborious, but it is really a hard-won experience. It is hoped that the activity designed by us can be favored by students and that they can have a better understanding of the work of Cleaning Squad while going through a pass.
